Georgina - ALL4U Family Placements Co-Ordinator (above)
The process begins with our experienced family placements co-ordinator Georgina (above) who manages the initial stages of the referral. Information received from our Local Authority partners is considered in relation to our family placement vacancies. Georgina has a direct relationship with all of our foster carers, has visited each family home and met the various family members so is able to give thought to the referral in a more considered way.
Once a child has been identified as a possible match to a family, the referral information is shared with the potential foster carers supervising social worker, then if deemed a possible good match the information is shared with the foster family who then have the option of having their own family profile shared with the local authority responsible for the child.
If the family feel it would also be a good match, Georgina shares the family information with the Local Authority commissioning team and requests a linking meeting with those who know the child, this may include their school, current foster carer if appropriate, any therapist involved, as well as the Local Authority Social Worker.
This is where the ALL4U team seek the detail to ensure the appropriate match. Here initial risk assessments and safer care planning begins. Once accepted as a strong match, as best practice, we seek visits for the child to our foster family as part of the transition process for all concerned. This is the beginning of the child’s journey.
During this process we seek all relevant information available related to the child’s life experiences to support our thinking about what and how to offer them the care and support package they need to allow them to thrive in our foster families care.
